Ivona Petreska
Director/Teacher
Ivona is the Director and a teacher at Blast Off Academy.
Put simply, the common denominator in everything Ivona does is love. She finds genuine love, enjoyment and fulfilment when working with students. Teaching has allowed her to create strong rapport with her students and that has always been her strength as a teacher. As Ivona works alongside her students she encourages them to reach their full potential by spreading the three vital elements of inclusivity, safety and building self-efficacy. Ivona is creating an environment where students feel as though they are ‘a part of a team’. The importance of inclusivity has been embedded and encouraged within Blast Off Academy. Ivona acknowledges and appreciate the diverse learning styles of all students.
Throughout Ivona's teaching career she has strived to create a safe and secure learning space for students, thus enabling them to express their unique personalities and talents. She is aware of the positive benefits this safe and effective learning environment has achieved by observing the high levels of improved student wellbeing in her classroom. Building self-efficacy, is a strong element that all teachers should instil in their teaching practice. Confident students are more inclined to take risks with their learning, develop a deep interest in activities and recover quickly from setbacks and disappointments. Ivona strives to develop student's self-efficacy everyday.
Teaching is both challenging and continuously evolving in response to a rapidly changing world. Ivona has the instinctive ability to adapt to these challenging situations, proactively developing strategies to achieve desired student goals and outcomes. She demonstrates highly effective pedagogical practices and is capable of addressing the variety of learning styles of her students. Ivona has had the opportunity to create various units of work across K-6 and is aware of the vital role she plays in developing and expanding upon the current knowledge of students. She strives to empower her students with accordance to the NSW K-10 syllabus outcomes. This is reflected in the preparation and delivery of all lessons taught.
Ivona's qualification includes a Masters of Teaching from the University of Western Sydney.
